Here you will find information about members and upcoming shows, as well as how you too can embrace the belly dancer within! Welcome to Brazos Valley and TAMU Belly Dance Associations. Founded in 2003 and 2004, we are proud to represent the belly dance community in the Brazos Valley and at Texas A&M University. The goal of these associations is to unite the belly dance community on campus and the surrounding area. We provide students, former students, faculty, staff, and the community a supportive atmosphere in which to expand and share their knowledge of this unique form of dance. Most of the basic steps and techniques used in belly dance are circular motions isolated in one part of the body. Other popular moves include hip and shoulder shimmies, rolling one's stomach muscles, balancing various props like baskets, swords, or canes, and dancing with chiffon or silk veils. American belly dance comes from the Egyptian style of the dance, but we have made it our own by incorporating various other styles of dance. The two most common styles of belly dance in America are American Tribal and American Cabaret. Our troupe performs the American Cabaret style of dance. CONGRATULATIONS TAMU BELLY DANCE ASSOCIATION! SECOND PLACE WINNERS OF THE INTERNATIONAL WEEK VARIETY SHOW!!!!
